Style isn't about finding clever clothes that do more than simply flatter, it's finding clothes that empower you.

Our One Brilliant Style File profile for November is Amy Jaffe. A wife, a mother,  part-time teacher for the Boyd Community Center and board member for Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Circles, Society of Contemporary Craft & YMCA.

Biggest Style Challenge - at 5ft 1/2in it can be difficult to find clothes that work with my height and curvy silhouette. I stay away from hemlines that fall too long, they will always make you look shorter. Jackets work well, anything that's slightly nipped -waisted and angular in the front.

That's why we just love this angular embellished Teri Jon dress, $490.00 available at One Brilliant.

Style Inspiration - I love the classic & playful look of Kate Spade and the artsy, southwestern, bohemian style of Ree Drummond.

A long pendant necklace elongates the torso. if you are petite ensure your waistband sits slightly higher than usual, it works as a visual trick to lengthen legs.

Fashion Influence Growing-Up - growing up was a dark era in terms of fashion. I was completely unaware that  fashion existed. I went to an all girl school and wore a uniform. Out of school, I was a gymnast and wore leotards and nylon sweat suits. I do remember loving tight Sassoon jeans and a long light blue fuzzy coat.

Is Pittsburgh becoming more stylish?  Hmmmmmm...our exercise clothes are definitely getting more hip!

We love Amy in this contemporary purple fit and flare wool coat by Yest, $158.00 available at One Brilliant. A powerful color can give a petite woman an extra boost, to make herself more noticeable.

Amy you inspire us with your style, beauty & confidence everyday. You are the empowered woman!
